Memorial Essay Scholarship Program

The purpose of the Jennifer J. Harris Memorial Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships in Jennifer’s name to students wishing to further their education. It’s a tribute to Jennifer’s commitment, dedication to higher education and to the U.S. Marine Corps.

The Marine Corps League, Honorable Few Detachment #1302 awards scholarships annually to students who are U.S. citizens attending an accredited college, university, or high school. The scholarships are funded by an annual fundraiser and donations sponsored by the MCL Honorable Few Detachment #1302.

Based on the application and essay, the committee will choose students who demonstrate leadership, commitment to academics and can demonstrate a sincere sense of patriotism via an essay.

“How do the lessons in U.S. History help us learn from the past in hopes that we make our future better?”

This year there will be five (5) $1,000.00 Scholarships Awarded. One (1) Scholarship will be Awarded to a Student of Swampscott High School, One (1) Scholarship will be Awarded to a student currently enrolled in their High Schools JROTC program and the remaining Three (3) Scholarships are open to all entries.

Application cover sheet and essay must be postmarked by 3/31/2018 and will be reviewed by the MCL Honorable Few Scholarship Committee. Based on the application and essay, the committee will choose five students meeting the above criteria who demonstrate leadership, commitment to academics and can demonstrate a sincere sense of patriotism via an essay.
